Pricing across markets: what a Colombo project costs a London client

Our honest rate card split by region, why small businesses benefit, and why we do not apologise for charging London rates to London clients.

£, LKR

We run on a two-market rate card. Sri Lanka and the UK. Nobody cross-subsidises anybody. Small businesses in Colombo do not pay London prices, and UK clients do not get a cheap deal because we happen to be based in South Asia. Here is why, and what it actually costs.

Most design and marketing businesses will not publish their rates. We always have. The reason is simple: if a prospect is a fit, they appreciate the honesty; if they are not, everyone saves time. Transparent pricing is the single best lead-qualifier in a small-business discovery call.

Why the two rates

Local clients should pay local rates. A Colombo restaurant or a Kandy-based ed-tech business operates on margins that cannot absorb London overheads. We built the company to serve small businesses in Sri Lanka, and the rate card reflects the reality of running one.

London clients should pay London rates. They are hiring on expertise, senior attention and delivery discipline, not on geography. A solo founder in London can easily pay 4 to 5 times what the same services cost in Colombo, because the value of a converting website or a clear brand system is priced to their local economy too.

Same work, two markets, two sensible numbers. The team doing the work is the same. The process is the same. The deliverables are the same.

The UK rate card

For small businesses operating in the UK, here are our 2026 starting prices:

  • Landing page (single page, conversion-focused): from £3,500, 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Marketing site (up to 10 pages, CMS-editable): from £6,500, 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Brand identity (Essentials pack): from £1,800, 2 weeks.
  • Full brand system (Identity pack): from £4,500, 4 weeks.
  • Social media retainer (content only): from £750 per month.
  • Social + paid ads retainer: from £1,800 per month.

These are fixed-price, fixed-scope. The number on the proposal is the number you pay. There are no hidden hourly rates, no "contingency buffers" and no surprise invoices.

The Sri Lanka rate card

For Sri Lankan small businesses, prices are roughly a quarter of the UK equivalents, quoted in LKR. The ratio reflects local buying power rather than a straight forex conversion, which is why it stays reasonably stable even when the exchange rate moves.

A landing page in Colombo runs LKR 285,000, a full marketing site around LKR 525,000, and a social retainer from LKR 85,000 per month.

The scope and the quality are identical. The rate reflects the local market.

The two uncomfortable questions

"Can I, a Colombo client, pay the Colombo rate for a UK-facing product?"

Sometimes, with conditions. If you are a Sri Lankan business building a website primarily for a Sri Lankan audience, the LKR rate applies. If you are a Colombo-registered company building a SaaS targeting the UK market with UK pricing, that is a London-rate project, regardless of where you are sitting.

We decide based on who the site is for, not where the founder is.

"Can I, a London client, pay the Colombo rate because you are based in Sri Lanka?"

No. The senior designer on your account earns a senior salary. The engineer earns a senior salary. The discovery workshop takes the same 60 minutes. The design reviews take the same two rounds. Location-arbitrage pricing is not what this studio does.

If the London rate is out of budget for your business, we will tell you honestly on the call. Sometimes the right answer is a scoped-down engagement (a one-page site instead of five), sometimes it is a freelancer we trust, sometimes it is "wait three months until the cashflow is there". We will not fake the rate to win the work.

What small business clients get for the money

Regardless of market, every engagement includes:

  • A senior designer and a senior engineer on the project.
  • A fixed-scope, fixed-price proposal.
  • A 60-minute discovery workshop before the quote.
  • Two rounds of revisions in every package.
  • A CMS handover video and documentation.
  • 30 days of free post-launch support.
  • An honest answer on the discovery call about whether this is the right engagement for you.

That last one costs us the occasional project, but it is also the reason our retention is so high. When we say yes, we mean it. When we say no, we are usually saving both sides three months of pain.

Why publish the rate card at all

Because the alternative is bad for both sides. Prospects spend hours on discovery calls before finding out the cost. We spend hours on proposals for projects that were never going to be affordable. Publishing the numbers turns the first 30 minutes of every call into useful territory: fit, goals, timelines, not "what is the budget" dancing.

If you are reading this and thinking "actually the UK rate works for me", book a strategy call. If it does not, email us anyway and we will point you at people who can help at your budget. Both paths end with you getting a better website than you have now. That is the job.
