What's the difference between a Care Plan and an SEO Retainer?

A Care Plan is technical upkeep · updates, backups, security, uptime, small edits. An SEO Retainer is growth work · new blog posts, keyword tracking, link building, technical SEO fixes. Most clients pair a Care Plan (£149+) with an SEO Retainer (£599+) · roughly £748/month for properly-looked-after + growing.

Do Care Plans cover sites not built by CenoDigital?

We can take over maintenance for existing WordPress sites after a one-off audit (£250 / $320 / LKR 22,000). We need to review the codebase before committing · some legacy sites have technical debt that can't be covered at the standard price. For Astro, Next.js, Shopify or custom-stack sites, we review on the free call.

What happens if I don't use my included edit hours in a month?

They don't roll over. Use them or lose them. This keeps the relationship clean · no accumulated debt on either side, no end-of-quarter scramble to "use up" time. If you consistently need more than the tier includes, we'll suggest the next plan up rather than over-billing for hours.

What counts as a content edit vs a new feature?

Edits · changing copy, swapping images, updating prices, adding a team member, changing opening hours, publishing a blog post your team drafted. Features · adding a new page, new functionality, a booking system, a redesigned section, integrations with new third-party services. Features are quoted separately.

How does the same-day SLA on Priority work?

Message us before 3pm UK on a weekday and someone's looking at your issue the same day. Outside hours we acknowledge within 2 business hours of the next working day start. "Looking at" doesn't always mean "fixed in an hour" · major issues still take what they take · but you never wait a week for an acknowledgement.

Can I cancel or pause?

30 days written notice, any time. No long-term contracts, no cancellation fees. If you pause for a month (e.g. maternity leave, seasonal closure), we stop billing and pick back up on your return · but security-only coverage stays on during the pause at £49/mo to prevent an unpatched CVE.

What's not covered by a Care Plan?

Major redesigns, new functionality beyond the edit allowance, SEO growth work, paid-ad management, social-media content, major migration work, emergency recovery from major security incidents. For any of these, we quote separately · either as a one-off project or a different retainer type.

Do I need a Care Plan if my site is on Astro or a static host?

Less urgently than if you're on WordPress · static sites have a much smaller attack surface and no plugin-update tax. But you still benefit from uptime monitoring, daily backups, periodic dependency updates, and someone who responds when something breaks. Basic is usually the right tier for an Astro site.

Why a Care Plan beats the alternatives

The hourly-freelancer alternative stops working around month four. Monthly retainers read more expensive upfront · they're usually cheaper by year-end because context stays with the team, small improvements compound, and uptime monitoring catches issues before they become incidents.

vs DIY. Zero monthly cost · real cost is 1–2 hours per week. Works if you're disciplined. Blows up when you forget the site for 3 months and a plugin update breaks the checkout.

vs Freelancer hourly. £100/mo looks cheap. By month 4, actual usage is 4–6 hours (£200–£400/mo effective) without the uptime monitoring, SLA, or context retention. Care Plans are the steadier line.

vs Do-nothing. The most common path and the most expensive long-term. Unpatched CVEs, broken forms, ranking slide, eventual emergency-rebuild. Care Plans prevent the emergency, not just the symptom.
